“A hole of shame” (“forat de la vergonya”) is how neighbours started calling an area of the old neighborhood of Barcelona (La Ribera) that was rethought and reconstructed some years ago. By using this name they were denouncinf specullation and the fact that some people had been expelled from their homes. On the other hand there were also some discussions on they way how the new square had been designed.

  
On the other hand there is a very big mix of population in the narrow streets of this place, and they all live more or less grouped by nationalities: those born in the Dominican Republic, in Pakistan, in China, arabs from different countries and locals which are also quite diverse. Last Sunday a group of neighbours organised a table tennis competition to encourage people to meet and play. I had the chance to talk to Raül, a member of an association called “El Pati” that organised the event: “We are just trying to energize the are, there is so many diverse people living here and we don’t know each other…” At the video he talks in Catalan, I will try to write some subtitles during the weekend…
