Catalan doctor Moisès Broggi (Barcelona 1908-2012) has died at his home in Barcelona aged 104. Broggi was well known for his early surgery developments during the Spanish Civil war, and its later use during World War II. During the Franco regime he stayed in Barcelona serving as a private doctor. Despite his age he kept a huge social activity during his last years, as a speaker in conferences or even as a political candidate. At the end of his life he was a strong defendor of Catalan independence. He will be remembered as a a prominent doctor and as a pure humanist.
(The videos you see were recorded earlier this year in Barcelona an in them he talks about atomic energy, peace and the need of Catalonia to become independent from Spain. He also gives an advice to young people: ‘keep always away from tiranies and authoritarian regimes”.
