Ander Izaguirre, a young basq journalist, and Kim Manresa, a Catalan photo journalist with wide experience, have been awarded with the Memorial Joan Gomis, a prize that recognizes reports and reporters that have showed an special sensibility towards solidarity affairs.

The jury has taken into acccount both the quality and the strengh of Izaguirre’s reports on young Bolivian miners, Bolivian mothers and Argelian refugees.

On the other hand, photo journalist Kim Manresa has been given the prize in honour to the social commitment reflected in his pictures and the high quality of his works, with special attention to “those images he took while travelling in Africa, Asia and Latin America”.

The award was establisehd six years ago in memory of Joan Gomis, who was president of Justícia i Pau (Justice and Peace), a catholic NGO. The jury is formed by members of several pro-peace Catalans organizations.
